The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Police Training Institute is encouraging eligible students to sign up for its upcoming Police Youth Week program, with registration now extended through June 30, 2026.

The week-long program will be held from July 13 through July 17, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day and is designed to strengthen relationships between law enforcement and young people through education, mentorship, and hands-on experiences.
Officials said participants will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of activities led by police officers and community partners, offering an inside look at law enforcement while promoting teamwork, leadership, and personal responsibility.

Throughout the week, students will take part in interactive demonstrations, physical training, team-building exercises, and discussions focused on public safety, decision-making, and career opportunities within the criminal justice field.
Organizers say the program provides a safe and supportive environment where youth can ask questions, build trust with law enforcement professionals, and gain a better understanding of the role police officers serve in the community.

The program is open to Somerset County students entering high school after completing eighth grade, as well as members of the Class of 2026 who recently graduated from high school.
Sponsored by the Somerset County Association of Chiefs of Police, the program is offered at no cost to participants.
Police Youth Week will conclude on Friday, July 17, with a formal commencement ceremony recognizing students for their participation and highlighting lessons learned throughout the week.
Registration has been extended until June 30. Interested students and families can register by scanning the QR code located on the program flyer.
