Newark’s West Ward will be buzzing with activity on Saturday, August 23, as Rare Gems Youth Program hosts its Free Community Impact Day, an afternoon filled with resources, fun, and togetherness for families.
Rare Gems is the only organization in Newark, and across New Jersey, offering youth programs that combine S.T.E.M. education with culinary arts.
This annual event is their way of giving back, bringing neighbors together, and connecting residents with valuable community services.

The celebration runs from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at 506–508 18th Avenue in Newark. Families can expect games, a bounce house, live vendors, and plenty of hands-on activities.
Bank of America will be providing free face painting, and Councilman Gonzalez is sponsoring a backpack giveaway while supplies last.
“This day is about more than just fun, it’s about creating a safe space for families, sharing resources, and building stronger community connections,” organizers said.
Admission is free, and residents are encouraged to register in advance. For questions or sponsorship opportunities, call (973) 855-1542.
