Authorities in Bergen County investigated a report of an armed individual that prompted a lockdown at Ramapo College of New Jersey in Mahwah Wednesday evening.
According to preliminary information, the college issued an alert shortly after 6 p.m., advising everyone on campus to lock down following a report of an armed individual.
The initial call reportedly involved two females screaming that there was a person with a firearm on campus.
Law enforcement responded to the college at 505 Ramapo Valley Road and conducted a precautionary sweep of the campus.
By approximately 7:20 p.m., officials determined that the report was unfounded, although officers remained on the scene continuing their sweep as a precaution.
The college remained locked down during the investigation before the restriction was officially lifted at approximately 8:20 p.m.
No injuries were reported in the preliminary information, and there was no confirmed armed threat found on campus.
