Rainy Wednesday Ahead for North Jersey with Heavy Evening Downpours Expected

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

Residents in Newark and across the North Jersey region are waking up to a cloudy and slightly warmer morning, but the dry stretch won’t last long. Rain is on the way, and plenty of it.

As of 6:00 a.m., temperatures sit at 55 degrees in downtown Newark, a few degrees higher than yesterday. However, clouds are thickening and conditions are expected to remain breezy throughout the day.

According to the National Weather Service, light showers may begin early, but steadier rainfall is expected to move in around midday.

Temperatures will hover around 55 degrees with an east wind around 10 mph, adding a cool, damp edge to the day.

The real soaking arrives tonight.

The forecast calls for periods of heavy rain beginning in the evening, with a 91 percent chance of precipitation across the region. Overnight lows will dip to around 51 degrees.

Commuters and evening travelers are urged to prepare for wet roads, limited visibility, and potential ponding in flood-prone areas.
