In downtown Newark, temperatures are starting off on the cooler side at 63 degrees as early voters prepare to cast ballots in New Jersey’s primary election for governor.

Polls open at 6 a.m.

Those heading out early are advised to bring an umbrella, as rain—possibly heavy at times—is expected to arrive between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m.

NWS Forecasters say the rain won’t last all day, and it won’t be a complete washout.

Showers and possibly a thunderstorm are likely before 11 a.m., with a chance of additional rain or storms continuing into the late morning and early afternoon.

Patchy fog may linger through noon, but sunshine is expected to return later in the day. The high temperature will reach around 77 degrees.

Tuesday night will bring a slight chance of thunderstorms before 8 p.m., followed by gradually clearing skies and a low near 65.

Voters and commuters alike are urged to keep an umbrella nearby and stay weather-aware throughout the day.
