Good morning, New Jersey, and happy Friday.
The region is waking up to a slightly milder start compared to yesterday, with temperatures hovering around 41 degrees this morning in Newark’s North Ward.
While it’s shaping up to be a fairly decent day overall, rain is in the forecast and could make for a damp end to the workweek.
Some areas of northern New Jersey may see early morning precipitation, with a brief chance of mixed or frozen precipitation at the onset.
Conditions are expected to transition as the day progresses, with a broader band of rain moving into the area later this afternoon.
The rainfall is not expected to be a washout but could leave roads and sidewalks soggy.
If you’re heading out early, especially to the bus stop, it’s still a good idea to dress warmly.
Even so, the milder air will make it feel a bit more comfortable than the past few mornings.
According to the National Weather Service, there is a 50 percent chance of rain after 3 p.m., with increasing clouds and a high temperature near 55 degrees.
Winds will remain light early before shifting to the south at 5 to 10 mph later in the morning.
