Police in Clifton pursued a vehicle into Newark early Monday morning after the occupants were suspected in several attempted burglaries across Passaic County during the overnight hours.
According to preliminary reports, Clifton officers began following a vehicle that had been reported stolen out of Newark.
Police attempted to stop the driver, but the vehicle fled onto the Garden State Parkway, prompting Clifton officers to continue the pursuit into Newark.
The chase moved into Newarkâs West Ward, where officers again tried to pull the vehicle over along 18th Avenue.
The driver then barreled through several West Ward neighborhoods at a high rate of speed, eluding police as the pursuit continued toward the area of 15th Street and 18th Avenue.
At that point, the officers terminated the chase due to safety concerns.
Wayne Police were also investigating whether the same individuals may have been involved in attempted burglaries within their jurisdiction.
The suspects remain at large, and no injuries or crashes were reported as a result of the pursuit.
