Pursuit, Crash Injures Newark Police Officer in the Ironbound Section

Police officials in Newark are investigating a pursuit that resulted in a crash injuring a police officer Saturday morning.   Officials say at approximately 11:05 a.m., police responded to Pennington and South streets on reports of shots fired. Crash

Upon arrival, Newark Police observed the suspect’s vehicle on Clinton Avenue and initiated a police pursuit.  

According to officials, the suspect was apprehended and transported to University Hospital after exhibiting symptoms of a CDS overdose.  

He is reportedly in stable condition.

Officials said a Newark Police officer was also transported to University Hospital after colliding with three vehicles during the pursuit. Crash She is reportedly in stable condition.

There are no civilian injuries. This incident remains under investigation.
