PSEG officials are reporting a power outage that is affecting homes and businesses in Newark's South Ward.
Lights went out for over 160 homes and businesses in the vicinity of Hawthorne Avenue and Leslie Street at approximately 10:40 a.m. sending their repair crews to the scene to assess the issue.
PSEG officials believe overheated overhead wires is causing the issue and expects power to be restored this evening.
Newark Police officials have been notified of the outage and officers are controlling traffic.
