Prosecutor's Office Investigates Police Brutality Report that Left Grandmother Hospitalized

The Union County Prosecutor’s office is investigating how a routine traffic stop escalated Friday, leaving a grandmother in the hospital after a car she was in was pulled over by Clark police.

Yesterday around noon, Clark police conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Stone Street and Mayfair Drive.

Initial reports indicate that a vehicle, driven by Fortunate Riga, was allegedly pulled over after he ran a stop sign. 

According to driver's accounts, police allegedly pulled him out of the vehicle escalating tensions. When his mother,  Antoniette Dilorio, intervened she was reportedly thrown to the ground by the officer.

The whole ordeal was witnessed by Riga's 5-year-old son, who was also in the vehicle at the time of the incident.

Riga was issued numerous violations, according to reports.

No comment or information in connection to the incident has been provided by the Clark Police.

Union County Prosecutor’s office is handling the ongoing investigation and is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact their office at (908) 370-8758.
