Prosecutor: 5-Month-Old Violently Shaken, Punched by Fort Lee Father Dies

After more than a week, a 5-month-old baby violently shaken and assaulted by his Fort Lee father on multiple occasions over a two month period died yesterday, according to authorities.

On Tuesday, July 28, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit was informed by the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency that the five month old baby boy was brought to Bellevue Hospital in New York City suffering from cardiac arrest.

According to Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli, the baby died yesterday at Bellevue Hospital in New York.

The father, 38-year-old Yoseop Choi, of Fort Lee was charged with aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

However, prosecutor announced that charges against Choi will now be upgraded to homicide.

His bail was set by the Honorable Susan J. Steele, P.J.S.C., at $750,000.00 with no ten percent option, no contact with the victim, and must surrender passport, as conditions of bail.
