Newark authorities reported property damage in a shots-fired incident in the city's West Ward on Monday evening.
According to police, gunfire erupted in the area of 318 Sanford Avenue just before 5:55 p.m.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found shell casings and a car struck by bullets.
Police say a thorough search of the scene indicated no victims.
Officers shut down a portion of Sanford Avenue near Abbotsford Avenue for the investigation.
No arrests have been reported.
