Police officials in Newark are investigating a robbery that sent a woman to the hospital Friday. AdOfficers were dispatched to St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston around 5:10 p.m. to investigate reports of a pregnant woman who entered the medical facility reporting being carjacked and robbed in Newark's South Ward.

Newark Police said the incident is said to have occurred earlier that day, around 1:30 p.m., at the intersection of Chancellor Avenue and Leslie Street.

The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, recounted the experience to the police, stating that she and her passenger were forcibly relieved of their purses by an unidentified assailant.AdRLS Media has learned that detectives clarified through their investigation that the victim described the incident as a robbery rather than a carjacking. This suggests that the confrontation likely took place while she was on foot, not in her vehicle.

Authorities have confirmed that the woman is now in stable condition.

Director Fragé and the police force are urging anyone with information about the robbery to come forward as the investigation continues to unravel the circumstances of this incident.
