A distributor is recalling hundreds of pounds of snack products containing pork cracklings after federal officials determined they were imported from a country not eligible to export meat products to the United States.
According to information released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, El Eden Import Distributor Corp. of Long Island City, New York, is recalling approximately 264 pounds of “De Todito” mixed potato chip products containing chicharrón.
Officials said the products were produced in Colombia and imported into the United States on July 28 before being shipped to a distributor in New Jersey and retail locations in New Jersey and Utah.
The recall includes 45-gram bags of “De Todito Natural” and “De Todito BBQ” mixed chips containing potato chips, plantain chips and pork cracklings.
Federal inspectors became aware of the products after receiving a consumer complaint.
No confirmed illnesses or injuries associated with the recalled products have been reported, according to FSIS.
