POSSIBLE CORONAVIRUS: A Dozen Sick Passengers Isolated on Ship to Dock in Bayonne

Bayonne

UPDATE 9:22am; 4 passengers being evaluated; the others cleared.

NJ Health offcials are monitoring a ship expected to dock in Bayonne containing about a dozen passengers who are experiencing symptoms of influenza and will be tested for the Coronavirus infection.

Officials say 12 passengers quarantined aboard a Royal Caribbean cruise ship arriving Friday morning.

In a statement, Royal Caribbean said: "We are participating in elevated levels of guest screening to check the spread of coronavirus. We are closely monitoring developments regarding coronavirus and have rigorous medical protocols in place onboard our ships."

Officials from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) said the 12 passengers will be tested after the Anthem of the Seas docks at 6 a.m.

CDC officials say it is possible the people on the ship could have the flu, which - at least in the U.S. this season - has been much more deadly than coronavirus.
