Police Vehicle Struck in Newark, Four Hospitalized

A Newark police officer and three civilians were hospitalized following a late-night collision in the city’s North Ward, officials confirmed.

According to a statement released by Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, the crash occurred at approximately 11:39 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2025.

A marked Newark Police vehicle was stopped at the intersection of Broadway and Grafton Avenue when it was struck by a Honda CR-V.

The driver of the Honda, along with two passengers, sustained injuries described as non-life-threatening and were transported to University Hospital for treatment.

The police officer, who reported experiencing pain following the impact, was also taken to University Hospital for evaluation.

Authorities said the circumstances surrounding the crash remain under active investigation.

No additional details were immediately released.
