Police Swiftly Apprehend Newark Ironbound Armed Robbery Suspects Who Stabbed Victim

Officials announce the arrest of Garrett D. Harding and Jaevon S. Blackmon, both 19 and both of Newark, in connection with an armed robbery that occurred last night.

According to authorities, at approximately 9 p.m., police responded to the 200-block of East Kinney Street on a robbery call.

Upon arrival, officers learned a male victim was robbed and stabbed by two men who stole his personal property.

Police said the two suspects fled onto Jefferson Street and then headed west onto Oliver Street.

The victim was transported by EMS to University Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Police apprehended Blackmon, who fit the description of one of the suspects, on Oliver Street. Harding was located in an area backyard and was in possession of a knife.

Authorities charged both men with Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. In addition, Harding was charged with Aggravated Assault.

These charges are merely accusations. Each suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
