Heavy police activity in the single digit block of Bayview Avenue is for reports of shots fired with a dog fatally injured at this time in Jersey City.
Details regarding the incident are pending, but according to preliminary reports, federal police agents were reportedly executing a search warrant before 6:45 a.m. for a suspect wanted for a robbery in NYC when at least one of the officers was attacked and bitten by the dog.
Officers shot the dog causing fatal injuries, according to reports. Gunfire also accidentally struck a marshal on the foot.
The injured officer was transported to Jersey City Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office are on the scene investigating the incident.
There were no other injuries reported at this time.
