Police Seize Over $5M Worth of Marijuana Near New Jersey Border

Greenwich Township

A man was arrested near the New Jersey border Tuesday after police found him hauling more than 1,000 pounds of marijuana valued at $5.1 million.

According to officials, New Jersey State police reportedly found 44 cardboard boxes of drugs inside a tractor-trailer at a weigh station on Interstate 78 in Greenwich Twp.

Authorities charged the driver - who was later identified as Guangyu Wu, 45, of California - with possession with intent to distribute more than 25 pounds of marijuana, a first-degree offense, and a lesser possession charge.

Officials say Wu could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted of the first-degree count.
