Police Seek Suspect in Newark Armed Robbery

Authorities in Newark request the public’s help identifying the suspect who robbed a victim at gunpoint on February 5. 

According to Newark Police, officers responded to the incident, which occurred at approximately 2:20 p.m. in the 400 block of Lafayette Street.  

“Police say the suspect, brandishing a weapon, got out of a stolen vehicle with an unidentified Black male and demanded money.  

When the victim didn’t have any cash, the armed suspect struck the victim in the head with the gun's handle and took his personal belongings.   

According to officials, both men fled in the vehicle, traveling west on Lafayette Street toward Merchant Street. The car, reported stolen on February 5, was later recovered later.

 Suspect #1 is described as a 5’8” Black male with a thin build.  

He was wearing a black Adidas sweatsuit with a hood.  

Suspect #2, not shown, is described as a Black male with a thin build. He was wearing dark-colored clothing and white Jordan sneakers.
