Police Seek Public's Help in Locating Shooting Suspect

Detectives from the Newark Police Cease Fire Shooting Task Force are requesting the public’s assistance in locating 21-year-old Newark resident John Herrera who is wanted for a shooting a 30-year-old Newark man on July 12th of this year said Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose.

According to Ambrose, shortly after being shot by Herrera in the 300 block of North 7th Street, the victim was treated and released from Clara Mass Hospital.

This investigation is active and ongoing.

Director Ambrose is urging residents to immediately contact police if the know Herrera's whereabouts or if they have additional information about the shooting by utilizing the Department's 24-hour Crime Stoppers’ tip line at 877 NWK-TIPS (877 695-8477) or NWK-GUNS (877 695-4867).

All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
