Police Seek Public's Help in Identifying Newark Carjacking Suspects

Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspects of a carjacking that occurred on Dec. 16th.

According to authorities, at midnight, police responded to the 7-Eleven, located at 240 Elizabeth Avenue, on report of a carjacking that occurred in the area.

Officials say a cab driver picked up a fare of six males in Jersey City and transported them to the 100-block of Johnson Avenue. The victim was ordered out of his cab at gunpoint and the suspects drove away in the vehicle, which was later recovered unoccupied at Badger Avenue and West Runyon Street.

One of the suspects was wearing a black ski mask.

Detectives investigating this incident are actively searching for these suspects and seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing them the streets.

This investigation is active and ongoing.
