Police Searching for Man Connected to Newark Carjacking

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose requests the public’s help with identifying an individual who is wanted for questioning in connection with a carjacking that took place on South Orange Avenue on July 25.

Police officers responded to a call around 3:18 a.m. from an individual whose 2012 Jeep Wrangler was taken at gunpoint in the 200 block of South Orange Avenue.

The suspect, described as 5’7,’’ had short black dreadlocks and was wearing a maroon shirt and orange cargo pants.

Detectives investigating this incident are seeking the public’s help in quickly finding this individual as part of the investigation.

Director Ambrose urges anyone with information about the suspect to call the Division's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).

All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
