Police Search for Woman Wanted for Aggravated Assault

Authorities have issued a warrant for the arrest of Ajila Nelson, 27, of Newark, on a charge of aggravated assault in connection with an incident that occurred on Feb. 18th.

According to officials, at approximately 11:45 p.m., police responded to a West Ward residence on a call of an assault.

Upon arrival, officers determined a woman was struck by three women following a quarrel.

The victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Detectives investigating this incident have identified Ajila Nelson as a suspect in this incident and have secured a warrant for her arrest on a charge of Aggravated Assault.

Police described Nelson as 5’6” tall, 170 lbs., has brown eyes, black hair and frequents the area of 16th Avenue between South 17th and South 20th streets.

While police are actively searching for Nelson, they seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing her from the streets.

This investigation is ongoing.
