Police Search for Violent Armed Robbery Suspect Who Pistol Whipped Victim in Newark

Newark Police officials said they seeking the public’s help in identifying a male suspect wanted for an armed robbery. 

According to authorities, the suspect is wanted in connection with an armed robbery that occurred on Thursday, December 1, 2022.

At approximately 10:30 p.m., officials said, police responded to a residential building in the area of Broad Street near Emmet Street on a call of a robbery, officials said.

Authorities say a male victim was followed into the building by the suspect, who repeatedly struck the victim with a handgun before going through his pockets.  

The suspect then removed the victim’s fanny pack and fled the building, heading north on Broad Street, officials say.

Detectives obtained camera footage of the incident and described the suspect as wearing a black wave cap, a black varsity jacket with white stripes around the waist and wrists, a black hooded sweatshirt with a white design on the hood, blue jeans with ripped designs in the front and back, and white sneakers according to officials.   

Officials said the suspect is known to frequent the Astor Street and Pennsylvania Avenue area.
