Police Search for Vehicle Wanted in Connection to Newark Shooting

Police are seeing the public’s help identifying the below pictured suspect vehicle in connection with a shooting that occurred on Tuesday.

According to authorities approximately 1:04 p.m., officers responded to the Mayfair Liquor Store at 1014 South Orange Avenue on a call of shots fired. At the scene, officers located a 26-year old male victim who had been shot.

The victim was transported to University Hospital and treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

As part of their investigation, detectives have determined that the below pictured vehicle (left) was involved in this shooting.

The vehicle pictured on the right is not the actual vehicle, but provided to offer additional clarity in identifying the suspect vehicle.

The suspect vehicle is believed to be a black Oldsmobile Alero, year 2001 to 2003, with temporary New Jersey license plate in the rear.

The vehicle is also believed to have tinted windows.

At least one rear passenger is believed to have been in the vehicle along with the driver during the shooting.

While police are actively searching for the suspects, we seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing them from our streets.

This investigation is active and ongoing.
