Police Search for Two Suspects Wanted for Attempted Newark Carjacking

Newark Pokice seeks the public’s help in identifying A suspect wanted in connection with a carjacking that occurred on Monday, April 16, 2018.

According to police at approximately 7:30 p.m., in the 100 block of Downing Street, a male, and a female attempted to carjack the victim for her car.

Police said the victim was struck in the head with a weapon when she refused to allow the suspects to take her vehicle.

The victim was treated at St. Michael’s Hospital then released according to police.

Suspect one is described as a middle-aged male, 5’9”, medium build and wore a black and brown coat with light blue jeans.

The female, described as Hispanic and middle-aged, had long black hair and a tattoo on her right wrist.

While police are actively searching for these suspects, they seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing them from city streets.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
