Police in Newark are on the search for a suspect who is wanted for an armed carjacking that occurred in the city overnight.
It was reported in the vicinity of 208 South 8th Street before 12:40 a.m. where police were notified of a carjacking in progress. Police arrived at the scene and were informed by the victim that a black male suspect armed with a silver gun approached and demanded the vehicle.
The vehicle is being reported as a Jeep Cherokee with reported NJ license plate numbers "G38-JJH".
The suspects is descibed as a 5'7" black male with jeans, a black t-shirt and a baseball hat.
There were no physical injuries immediately reported.
