Police in Newark are on the search for two suspects wanted for an armed carjacking that occurred in the city's North Ward Saturday afternoon.
The incident happened in the 80's block of Mount Prospect Street before 4:30 p.m. where officers responded to reports of a carjacking in progress at that location.
Officers arriving at the scene were approached by the victim who reported that two black males reportedly exited a silver BMW, armed with a gun, and demanded their vehicle.
Authorities are looking for a red Dodge Charger with reported NJ license plate numbers "G43-HDN".
Police officers spotted the vehicle in the area of Springfield Avenue near Bergen Street and attempted to pull it over when the driver sped away leading officers on a brief pursuit that ended in the eastbound lanes of I-78 where police lost sight of the vehicle.
There were no physical injuries reported.
