Police Search for Suspects Responsible for Two Gas Station Robberies in Newark

Authorities in Newark are investigating armed robberies of two gas station that occurred on Friday in the city.

Police responded to the first incident that happened shortly before 6:30 p.m. in the 1200 block of McCarter Highway at Clark Street.

According to reports, several suspects arrived at the gas station armed with a gun and demanded cash.

The suspects took and an undetermined amount of money before speeding away from the scene in a vehicle with NJ license plate numbers "K72-HSR".

Police located that unoccupied vehicle about an hour later in the 200 block of Woodside Place.

In the second gas station robbery of the evening, police responded to the Delta Gas station that's located at the intersection of Jackson and Market Streets at around 9 p.m. where masked men arrived in a 4-door white vehicle and ordered cash from the attendant.

The attendant handed over an unknown amount of proceeds before the suspects fled the scene.

It is not immediately clear if the robberies are connected.

There were no physical injuries reported.
