Police Search for Suspect Wanted for Robbing Newark Family Dollar

Police officials in Newark seeks the public’s help with identifying a suspect who is wanted for a commercial business robbery today on Springfield Avenue.

Police say at approximately 11:52 a.m, police responded to a robbery call at the Family Dollar in the 500 block of Springfield Avenue.

A male suspect, gesturing as if he had a weapon, told the store employee to give him all of the money in the cash register.

The suspect, described as 5’9'' with a thin build, took the money and ran northbound on South 10th Street and East on Kent Street.

Police say the suspect wore a red and grey jacket, stone wash blue jeans, and black and grey colored sneakers.

While detectives investigating this incident are seeking the public’s help in quickly identifying this suspect, Director Ambrose urges anyone with information about him to call the Division's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).

All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
