Police in Newark are on the search for a suspect who is wanted for a shooting that occurred on a Newark North Ward neighborhood.
The overnight night shooting happened before 1:30 a.m. near the vicinity of Davenport Avenue and North 9t Street.
According to preliminary reports, gunfire rang out in the area sending police to the scene where officers found shell casings, but as they canvased the area for victims, no one was found.
Residents said the gunmen fired off several rounds before officers arrived to investigate but it is not clear who the suspect was shooting at.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
