Police Search for Man who Stole Officer’s Body Camera in Newark

Police in Newark seeks the public’s help locating a suspect wanted for a theft of a Newark Police officer’s body-worn camera on Friday.

Police say shortly before 4 p.m., an officer’s body-worn camera was stolen after it was pushed off the officer’s vest in the 900-block of Bergen Street.

According to police, after taking the body worn camera, the suspect fled north on Bergen Street.

Police described the man as.having long dread locs that were covered with a black scarf. He

Police say the man was also wearing a burgundy shirt, black jeans, light-colored footwear was carrying a black backpack.
