Police Search for Armed Robbery Suspects in Newark

A citywide search is underway for a group of armed masked men who committed as many as 5 armed robberies that began at 6:30 a.m. 

Police responded to the 700 block of North 5th Street for a victim who reported being robbed by four black males who were occupying a dark colored  4-door Volkswagon Jetta with unknown California plates. 

According to the victim, one of the suspects had a bandana covering his face when he pointed a weapon and took personal possessions. 

 A short time later, a victim in the 700 block of  North 6th street reported being robbed at gunpoint and gave the same description.

Several victims in the 200 block of Second Ave. reported a gunpoint robbery where the suspects fled in a dark colored vehicle.  

At around 7:45 a.m. in the  400 block of South 8th Street, a person reported being robbed at gunpoint by the suspects fitting the same description as the suspects described above.

At around 8:15 a.m, a woman walking to work was robbed by two black males of ap purse and a cell phone. 

There is a regional wide search for the suspects.
