Police Return 3-Year-Old Wandering Newark Street

Police officials in newark are reporting that a 4th Precinct Police Officer has returned a 3-year old child found wandering last night to his family.

According to authorities, officers patrolling the area of Avon Avenue and South 19th Street were flagged down by a woman who said she found the boy walking near an empty lot.

Police say the child was wearing only a pamper and they located an adult relative of the child who resides in a building nearby.

The child was transported to University Hospital for evaluation and was found to be unharmed.

The boy had been with his mother prior to going missing. A member of the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency authorized the child to be temporarily placed with relatives.

Detectives of the Special Victim’s Unit are investigating this incident.
