Police Release Photos of Suspect Wanted for an Armed Robbery in Newark

Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying two men wanted for robbing two others on Washington Street on November 27th.

According to police, sometime after 11 a.m, two men were standing near Maiden Lane when three suspects exited a gray Lexus SUV and started to fight with the two victims.

Police said, as the group fought, one of the suspects struck one of the victims with a handgun then removed a cell phone and his fanny pack which contained numerous personal papers.

A New Jersey Transit Police Officer traveling northbound on Washington Street observed the scuffle and activated the police vehicle’s lights and sirens as he exited his police car.

The three suspects were last seen fleeing in a Lexus which according to police was reported stolen out of Edison on November 25th.

The suspects are described black males. Suspect #1 is approximately 6’0’ and was wearing a burgundy colored jacket, blue jeans, and a gray knit hat. The two remaining suspects were both wearing dark hooded sweatshirts, and black pants.

Police said the victims refused medical attention.
