Police Release ID of Person of Interest in Attempted Luring in Elizabeth

The Elizabeth Police Department is asking the public for assistance in locating a wanted person, Jair Ramirez.

There are active warrants for Ramirez’s arrest for terroristic threats and weapons offenses.

The charges stem from a Sept. 15th, incident where a fifteen year old female victim was threatened at knifepoint.

Ramirez is also being sought for questioning as a person of interest for an incident which occurred on today at approximately 7 a.m.

During this incident, the suspect exposed his genitals to a ten year old female, and attempted to lure her into a secluded alleyway near 208-210 Orchard Street.

A concerned neighbor intervened and the suspect fled.

The suspect’s identity has not been confirmed in this incident, and Ramirez is only considered a person of interest at this time.

UPDATE 11:00 p.m. Jair Ramirez was arrested by members of the Elizabeth Police Department and Union County Sheriff's Office at approximately 9:30 pm. He was taken into custody without incident at 1128 Elizabeth Avenue.
