Police Recover Body of Woman in Trunk after Pursuit, Crash; Man Wanted in Rhode Island

RIDGEFIELD PARK NJ: Police are on the scene of a crash that happened on the NJ Turnpike northbound lanes near exit 18w at this time.

According to initial reports, he driver of the vehicle was reportedly wanted by Providence Rhode Island Police after authorities in that state located a crime scene at his house indicating that he possibly injured his wife.

New Jersey State troopers located a man, who was reported as armed and dangerous by a Rhode Island police department, on the northbound Turnpike at milepost 117 in Ridgefield Park, Bergen County.

According to police at around 9:11 p.m., troopers attempted to stop a 2007 blue Dodge, but the driver refused to pull over. In the area of milepost 115, the Dodge became disabled.

When troopers approached the vehicle, they discovered the driver had a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was transported by ambulance to Hackensack Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The body of a woman was reportedly pulled from the vehicle.

UPDATE 12:19 p.m. The man has died from his injuries.
