Authorities in Morris County say a Lake Hopatcong man is facing several charges after officers discovered a cache of firearms, drugs, and cash during a police raid at his Jefferson Township home.

According to a statement released by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, investigators executed a search warrant early Thursday morning, November 7, 2025, at a residence in the Lake Hopatcong section of Jefferson Township. Inside the home, police said 32-year-old John B. Scavone had fortified his bedroom door with steel and resisted arrest when officers entered.
He allegedly attempted to take control of a patrol rifle before being safely detained without serious injuries.
During the search, authorities recovered five firearms, including a stolen Glock handgun and another weapon illegally modified to fire automatically.
Investigators also seized a crossbow, high-capacity magazines, armor-piercing ammunition, and nearly one kilogram of suspected cocaine.
Police found additional drug paraphernalia believed to be used for packaging and distribution, along with roughly $11,000 in cash thought to be drug proceeds.
Detectives allege that Scavone ran a cocaine distribution network operating in parts of Morris County between July and November.
He is now facing multiple charges tied to drug distribution, weapons offenses, and resisting arrest.
The investigation was led by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Special Enforcement Unit Task Force, which includes officers from Parsippany-Troy Hills, Morristown, Boonton, and the Morris County Sheriff’s Office.
The New Jersey State Police and Jefferson Township Police Department also assisted.
Officials said the operation represents a coordinated effort to curb illegal drug activity and remove dangerous weapons from the community.
Scavone remains in custody pending a court appearance.
