Police Officer Assaulted in Newark's North Ward

There no serious injuries reported for a police officer assaulted by a suspect in Newark's North Ward on Sunday morning.

According to reports, a police officer who attempted to arrest a suspect in the 70's block of Lincoln Avenue was punched in the face twice by the suspect at around 9 a.m.

Backup police units arrived at the scene and were able to subdue the suspect then swiftly place him under arrest.

EMS treated the officer on the scene while police officials charged the suspect with assault and other charges related to the incident according to reports.
