Police Nab Armed Robbery Suspects in Newark

Wanted for several robberies around he city, police in Newark chased down a pair of armed robbery suspects early this morning in the city's South Ward. 

An early morning reported armed robbery on Smith Street in the city's West Ward  sent several police units to the scene where the victim reported being robbed by several armed black males who fled in a Dodge Stratus shortly before 4 a.m. One of the suspects wore a grey hoodie while the other wore a burgundy shirt according to the victim.

A city wide canvass, (conducted by multiple police units) had officers come across a vehicle fitting the description given by the victim on 14th Ave. near the Garden State Parkway. Refusing to stop for police, units reportedly followed the vehicle eastbound on 14th Ave. where it was lost a short time later. 

Police units responsible for canvassing for the vehicle in the city's South Ward spotted the vehicle on West Bigelow Street near Hillside Ave. at around 4:20 a.m. where the suspects bailed from the vehicle.

A foot pursuit of two suspects had police apprehending the men in the 100 block West Runyon Street a short time later. 

The pair are believed to have conducted multiple armed robberies around the city over the weekend.
