Police in Maplewood Investigate Pistol Whipping Incident

Police in Maplewood are investigating an assault where an 18-year-old was pistol-whipped this afternoon.

According to police, at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Friday, an attempted robbery occurred in the area of 83 to 89 Jacoby Street. 

Police said that Detectives are on the scene investigating. Three suspects are involved, one Hispanic and two black males, who fled on foot towards Irvington. It is unknown if they are in a vehicle at this time.

According to police officials, the adult victim was struck in the head with the butt of a handgun.  

Police said that EMS is on the scene for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, and Officers continue to search the area for the suspects.  

The victim is reported to be uncooperative at his time.
