A brief and frantic search in Newark for a young child who left his home unsupervised Sunday night ended successfully after the boy was located a short time later.
Police were called to the Wynona Lipman Garden apartment complex that's located in the 400 block of Holiday Court after receiving reports of a missing child.
Units arriving at the scene notified officers in the area of a 7-year-old boy who reportedly left his home unsupervised and possibly headed toward Branch Brook Park according to preliminary reports.
The boy was last observed wearing a red shirt, with floral pajama pants according to his guardians.
Police reported the boy found about a an hour later unharmed. EMS evaluated the boy before reconnecting with his parents.
The incident remains under investigation.
