Law enforcement officials in Essex County are investigating circumstances behind a shots-fired incident that involved police officers in Newark's Ironbound section Wednesday night.
Preliminary information at the scene indicated that at approximately 10 p.m., East Ward officers investigating the area of Chestnut Street near Pulaski Street came across three suspicious suspects.
At least one of the men produced a weapon and fired at cops.
Over a dozen assisting officers raced to the scene and arrested three suspects.
According to reports, one other suspect fled the scene and has not been captured.
No injuries were reported, and it is unclear if officers returned gunfire.
