Police Investigate Two (More) Stripped Vehicles in Newark

A set of vehicles stripped of its rims and tires overnight near the downtown business district has police in Newark searching for the suspect/s that are responsible.

According to the owners of the vehicles, the white Honda was parked on Thomas Street just off of Broad Street when it was discovered early this morning stripped and propped up with bricks.

The black vehicle was vandalized, stripped near the Lucoil gas stations on Route 21 near the cars wash.

Residents in two South Ward neighborhoods produced a photograph of a masked man that they said was attempting to steal tires and rims from two vehicles at around 4 a.m. but was scared off by a male resident.

The latest incidents are among more than two dozen vehicles that has had its tires and rims stripped in Essex and Union counties.

There have been no reports of arrests.
