There were no immediate reports of injuries in a shots-fired incident near a park in Newark Sunday morning.
Police responded to reports of gunfire on the South 17th Street side of West Side Park around 3:10 a.m.
Officers from a nearby precinct arrived and searched for shell casings and possible victims.
The suspect who fired the weapon fled the scene, according to initial reports.
No injuries were reported.
