Police are investigating a sexual assault that occurred over the weekend near Rutgers University.
Police Sunday took a report of a sexual assault in the area near Richardson and Wycoff streets at approximately 2:45 a.m.
The victim told police she was walking in the area when a male walking behind her tried talking to her. The unidentified male then followed the victim into a backyard area and sexually assaulted her.
The victim was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for treatment.
The man was only described as a black male, wearing tan shorts and a dark colored shirt with white dots, who was last seen fleeing towards Easton Avenue, police said.
