Police temporarily closed about a block of Summer Avenue as they investigated reports of shots fired that rang out in Newark North Ward neighborhood on Sunday morning.
According to preliminary reports, a gunman arrived in the area of Summer Avenue and May Street at around 6:30 a.m. and began to fire shots at unknown targets.
Police checked the area for injuries but there were no reports of casualties.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
The suspect remains at-large.
