A crash that sent the driver of a vehicle to the hospital has police investigating.
Emergency responders rushed to the intersection of Elizabeth Avenue and West Bigelow Street shortly before 10:20 a.m. after receiving reports of a crash with injuries.
Arriving emergency crews located a badly damaged SUV with the driver injured at that location.
A preliminary investigation indicated that the driver of the SUV slammed into a parked truck, at a high rate of speed, shortly before police arrived to the scene.
The impact of the crash caused the SUV to move the truck onto the sidewalk.
A man sitting inside the truck eating breakfast said that the truck was struck so hard by the SUV that it destroyed the vehicle's wheels and that his food was knocked out of his hands and onto the dash board.
The victim was transported to an area hospital suffering non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
