Police Investigate Early-Morning Crash That Closed Portion of Route 37 in Toms River

Ocean County officials are investigating an early-morning crash that shut down part of a busy roadway in Toms River on Sunday.

According to preliminary information, Toms River Police were called to the eastbound lanes of Route 37 near Hospital Drive at approximately 1:45 a.m. for reports of a crash with injuries. 

Responding officers arrived and located the crash scene, prompting closures in the eastbound lanes while emergency crews worked at the site.

 

There were unconfirmed reports of serious injuries; however, authorities have not released details on the number of people involved or their conditions at this time. 

One westbound lane was also closed during the investigation.

 

Police said the circumstances surrounding the crash remain under active investigation, and additional information will be released when available.
